A Court of Silver Flames

I went into A Court of Silver Flames (book four of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series) by Sarah J. Maas really disliking Nesta Archeron and her bitter, cowardly ways. But by the end I loved her so much. I think when a character starts out terrible but can be redeemed we love them more than if they’d just been lovable all along.
And Cassian. Oh Cassian, you are everything—loyal, strong, fierce, thoughtful, and oh-so-sexy. But what really got me in this book was the female friendships. They were beautiful and fierce, and those bonds were what had me sobbing by the end.
The other theme that caught my attention throughout the book was family—the ones you’re born into and the ones you choose for yourself. There were messages of forgiveness, relationships that were hard-won, and familial relationships that were toxic and almost broke several of the characters in the book, but which ultimately made them stronger for having survived them.
Not a perfect book, there were more than a few things I didn’t like—but it gets five stars from me for its entertainment value. Once I started, I didn’t want to stop, but I also wanted to make it last—and in my opinion, that’s the mark of a great storyteller.
Let me tell you, this is the steamiest, dirtiest, book of the series for sure. If you don’t enjoy a healthy bit of steam you may want to skip quite a few chapters.
SPOILER ALERT:
It’s a small spoiler, but I just had to mention how much I want a magical house that draws me bubble baths, delivers romance books and chocolate cake, and can conjure a mini pegasus for my amusement. Sounds like heaven don’t you think?
Synopsis:
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.
Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.
Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.
