Thank you to Minotaur Books for sending me an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
The Angels’ Share by Ellen Crosby is the perfect read for this time of year. It's set in Virginia between Thanksgiving and Christmas and is a fantastic cozy mystery to curl up on the sofa with...maybe while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
I really loved it, and didn't want to put it down. It only lost one point from me because there were a couple of minor inconsistencies. For example, near the start of the book the main character notes that there is no phone reception in the wine cellar, then a few pages later they find her phone down there by calling it, from another phone, also in the cellar. Huh? I thought there was no reception down there? They're very minor grievances, but they distracted me from the story a couple of times, which was annoying.
Otherwise, this book is full of page-turning tension and mystery and I was so intrigued by all the talk of Masons, the founding fathers, Shakespeare, the early Virginia settlers etc. that I've been doing research and learning more on my own since finishing the book.
This is part of the Wine Country Mystery series (book #10), and I can't believe I hadn't read them before. I'm going to go back to book one and read them all now! You can grab your own copy by clicking the button below.
