The Hating Game

Ooh I loved The Hating Game by Sally Thorne! Itâs no secret that Iâm a big fan of the enemies to lovers premise, and a good work enemies story is even better! My husband and I met through work, hated each other and then, one day, it turned to love and weâve been together for over ten years now!
I found both characters pretty likeable, and while their outcome was predictable I loved reading it all the same. The other thing that I enjoyed about this book was that the sexual tension and innuendo was perfectly timed, and without any of the super cringeworthy terms Iâve read in other romances lately. You wonât see any references to âher sexâ or âhis throbbing manhoodâ in this book. Itâs modern, classy, and extremely fun! Definitely worth a read!
I listened to part of it on audiobook and loved Katie Schorrâs narration too. If youâd like to listen to it, you can grab it here, or get the physical book by clicking the button below.
Synopsis:
Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A personâs undoing
3) Joshua Templeman
Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. Sheâs charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.
Trapped in a shared office together 40 (OK, 50 or 60) hours a week, theyâve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. Thereâs the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy canât let Joshua beat her at anythingâespecially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking.
If Lucy wins this game, sheâll be Joshuaâs boss. If she loses, sheâll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like sheâs got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether sheâs got Joshua Templeman all wrong.
Maybe Lucy Hutton doesnât hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesnât hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.
