The Holiday Switch

Thank you to Penguin Random House Audio for gifting me a review copy of The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo.
Lila Castro is on her last winter break of high school and she's trying to earn as much extra cash as she can, working at the local inn, to take some of the financial burden off of her parents. But when her boss's nephew, Teddy Veracruz, swoops in unexpectedly he does more than steal some of her extra shifts at work. Lila is on the cusp of adulthood and feeling the pressure to do what she sees as her duty versus following her heart. She loves her family and doesn't want to let them down, but is also keeping a lot of secrets from them.
I have to say, I really liked the audiobook narration by Leiana Bertrand (which comes in at 7 hours 46 minutes) but I had a hard time really getting invested in the characters. I liked Lila well enough, but didn't really have any feelings about Teddy one way or another. And while this is a young adult book it felt like they were significantly younger than their age. Their thoughts and actions felt more juvenile than I would have expected. I did enjoy reading about Lila's family and the town, but this wasn't a home run for me, unfortunately.
