Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for gifting me a review copy of The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler. This is the first in the Moose Springs, Alaska series and while I read them out of order I don’t think it ruined anything for me. In fact, because I read the second one first I had some extra background knowledge on the characters in this book which I actually think made me like them more. You can read my review for the second book Mistletoe and Mr Right here, and the third book Enjoy the View here.
Graham Barnett is a local to Moose Springs, Alaska, and runs The Tourist Trap, a burger joint that despite the name just seems to be attracting more and more tourists. And Graham hates tourists….until he meets Zoey.
Zoey Caldwell has always wanted to visit Alaska, it’s a major bucket list item for her, so when her friend Lana Montgomery invites her to come stay while she’s in town it’s like a dream come true. Lana is the character that I don’t think I would have liked very much if I hadn’t read the second book in the series before this one. That book is all about her, so we learn more about what makes her tick and why she does the things she does. In this first book she definitely comes off as a bit of a bulldozer.
I just love a sunshine meets grump story, and I found myself laughing out loud so often while reading this book. I know I’ve said it before but so many romances are marketed as rom-coms these days when really they’re romance-dramas. So I loved that this one actually made me laugh, a lot. Zoey’s enthusiasm was infectious and it was so wonderful to see Moose Springs through her eyes.
So if you need a bit of sweet, light-hearted romance in your life right now I’d definitely check this one out. You can grab your own copy from an independent bookseller via the button below.
Synopsis:
When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. Now he's stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless string of resort visitors who couldn't interest him less. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way…
Two weeks in Alaska isn't just the top item on Zoey Caldwell's bucket list. It's the whole bucket. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she's smitten. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham's world, she may just find there's more to the man than meets the eye…and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness.
