Thank you to Laura Barnard for sending me a review copy of Once Upon a Wish-mas.
The lead, Ruby, is a nanny who takes a position working for a very ādifficultā man in Londonās posh Notting Hill neighborhood. After reading The Turn of the Key recently (a suspenseful read about a nanny who horrible things keep happening to when she goes to work for a difficult family) I kept waiting for ghostly things to start happening. Of course they didnāt...itās not that sort of book. But once I stopped waiting for spookiness I really enjoyed this book a lot!
The lead is smart and driven and sassy. Plus I love a good enemies to lovers tale.
There were a few tearjerker moments because the girls sheās caring for are struggling with the loss of their mom. As a mom myself I canāt help but tear up at the thought of kids whoāve lost a parent.
Overall a super fun holiday romance!
Synopsis:
Ruby Campbell isn't daunted at the prospect of working as a Nanny for the notorious Barclay Rothchester. Sheās warned heās a strict control freak, but sheās sure she can soften him up.
Barclay Rothchester lost his wife three years ago. Of course heās never going to find someone to replace her role, the one she did so perfectly. Heās sure its not going to be hippy dippy Ruby with her sass and rebellious ways.
Ruby is determined to give his daughters the Christmas they deserve. Now if only she can tolerate their father long enough to make that happen.
Are they both willing to put their stubborn pride aside, or will they risk losing the one gift that can't be wrapped: each other.
